Lana Ravbar — Visualizing the Verse

The Project

An initiative for the direct implementation of the Slovenian-French Action Plan for 2024–2027

This initiative brings together the Faculty of Design in Ljubljana and ECV École de Création Visuelle in Paris to create an animated short film based on the poem “8.” by Slovenian poet Meta Kušar.

The film blends special visual effects with real footage filmed in Paris, integrating kinetic typography and motion design to bring the poem into physical space. It serves as a direct implementation of the Slovenian-French Action Plan for 2024–2027.

Spanning two semesters (winter 2026/27 and summer 2027), the project is structured as a single, indivisible academic block combining technical acquisition in Paris with full production and finalization.

Prostori so odlični, čeprav zastavljeni. Moji dolgovi so branili izvire. Poplačala sem jih z dejstvi, ki jih zmagovalci niso mogli malikovati.

8. La nature reste là, l'esprit se promène. Sous les châtaignes et à travers le temps. Par l'épaule, jusqu'au cou. Par la main vers la feuille. Je ne m'y retrouve. Pendant des années, l'acoustique de mon jardin tombait en panne. Ces lieux sont exquis, même si mis en gage. Mes dettes étaient à la défense des sources. Je m'en suis acquittée par les faits, des faits que les vainqueurs ne pouvaient pas idolâtrer.

The poem explores how nature remains constant while the poet's mind wanders through time, memory, and loss — a perfect subject for visual translation.

Instead of simple subtitles, the project uses advanced digital motion graphics to merge text with reality.

Motion Design

Morphing objects into one another to visualize poetic transitions between memory, nature, and the body.

Kinetic Typography

Animating words so they move and react like living elements within the frame.

Compositing

Seamlessly blending digital text with live-action footage filmed in Paris.

French Art Integration

Incorporating diverse French art pieces to bridge Slovenian poetry with French visual culture.
